3D printing and digital fabrication group

The 3D printing and digital fabrication group will explore the below areas by bringing together a UAL wide community of interest who participate in meet-ups to share practice, collaborate with the sector & work together to develop exhibitions, workshops & events:

  • 3D modeling software
  • CNC mills or routers (computer numerical control)
  • 3D Printing
  • Laser cutting
  • 3D-scanning

The group is part of CCW Digital and the CCW Pop Up Digital MakerSpace project an inter-disciplinary Student-Staff Collaboration.

The ‘Pop Up Digital MakerSpace project aims to explore, share and build on our knowledge and experience of emergent digital practice and its relationship to disciplines at CCW and beyond.

The first rule of Pop Up Digital MakerSpace is:

  • You must talk about the Pop Up Digital MakerSpace

Give: (This is an opportunity to)

  • Try: 3D printing (free small test prints within reason during pilot phase)
  • Learn: more about 3D printing
  • Share: Meet staff & students to share experience of 3D printing

Get: (What we ask in return)

  • Safe/Fail experiments only: Can not be responsible for failing to produce course material or for work submissions (Experimentation Only)
  • Contribute: To the community in some way share resources, tips, help others etc.
  • This is not a service: 3D printer can not be booked, if you have a file ready to print and the printer is free you can print.
  • Open to all CCW staff & students: On a first come first serve basis
  • Group: The 3D printing experiments are part of the CCW Pop Up Digital MakerSpace
