Chelsea College of Art 3D printing staff & student experimentation

CCW Digital Learning Teaching and Enhancement are supporting 3D printing experimentation and workshops at Chelsea college of arts. The 3D printer would not be seen as a service but a technology to explore together, to learn the principles of 3D printing and establish confidence and knowledge to make the most of external industry services who offer 3D printing off site.

Arts staff and students have expressed an interest exploring 3D printing processes and principles.

We have also been collaborating with tech industry where there is an expectation from industry partners that our students are experimenting in processes such as 3D printing. Please see the links below of industry collaborations which experimentation in 3D printing would support:

Course Integration of 3D printing: CCW Digital will continue working with MAGDC (Sadhna Jain) and BAISD (Cyril Shing) to explore 3D printing as part of the industry collaborations above. We would evaluate the use of 3D printing on these courses to inform wider integration.

Cross college 3D printing collaborations The 3D printer will be used to support Chelsea contribution to cross college CoP through the 'Pop Up Digital Maker Space' part the UAL staff (academic & technical) and student development fund to develop a Pop Up Digital Maker Space to host workshops and activities around new technologies.

The 3d printer would also be used in digital staff development activities and support the sharing of practice through the 'Practice Exchange'
